bits of summer

When I used to hear the words “botanical print” I always imagined something aged and vintage looking…maybe something that would hang in my grandmothers home.  I have been pleasantly surprised lately by the modern botanical prints I have come across online though!  It’s a fresh new view of botanicals that appeals to younger generations.  I came across Miles of Light, a beautiful shop on etsy, and just had to share!  I love the clean crisp backdrop and the pops of color and textures from the plants themselves.  It is a lovely way to bring the outside into your home even if you don’t have a green thumb!

I had the pleasure of meeting, Nicole Maslowski, at Celadon (where I work) the other day.  She brought in a ton of her lovely jewelry and I wanted to buy one of everything but sadly, don’t make that much money a year. haha.  But I did however snatch up a few lovely pieces that I wore right away.  Take a peek at her etsy shop, Maslo Jewelry, and see her beautiful work.

peaches

It’s May….which means that summer is getting closer and closer!  It was almost 90 here the other day, so it sure did feel like summer already in Charleston.  One thing I do LOVE about summer is, PEACHES!  They are one of my absolute favorite fruits and I love their soft fuzzy skin too.  I found a recipe on House Beautiful for cinnamon roast peaches, that sounds amazing!  I think I can see some fresh peaches in my near future.

Do you have a favorite peach recipe you’d like to share?  Please do!

1. cinnamon roast peaches 2. sliced peaches 3. summer peaches 4. a bushel of peaches 5. peach perfection

floating house

Talk about a gorgeous summer-house, right?  This unique house, I came across on dwell, is located on Lake Huron in Canada. It has breathtaking views of the lake and it’s clean and simple design is a fantastic compliment to the natural elements!  I’d love to have a home like this to escape to from time to time, but then again, I could live there all year long.  To see more photos, read about the home and it’s owners click here.

month of may

Well, after a little bit of research, I think I’ve learned a few new things about the month of May.  There are the obvious days to celebrate like Mother’s Day and Cinco de Mayo, but did you also know that the month of May is national egg month?  And, the second week of the month is national bike week!  Oh the things the internet can teach you…
